New Shirt Design: Vermont/Beverly

This is our first T-shirt design. The image is of the blue rail outside the the Vermont/Beverly Metro Station. This spot stands infamous for its height and mellow slant, and is a challenge for most, including those with hops. In any case, this place makes a picture-perfect set-up and we pay tribute to the dimensions as well as its location: Koreatown-LA.

The Third Street Jam

On Easter Sunday, we are expecting a large group of BMX riders from all-over California to gather outside Union Station by noon. From there, we will head toward Echo Park and stop at many different places along the way to ride and document for a third video. For every event, I choose a town with a BMX-friendly landscape and map-out a route, correspondingly. The previous web-edits and their updates posts are still up and may be viewed by scrolling down this page. Since October of last year, two Street jams have been hosted and we are now at our hundred attendant-plus mark. We have received great positive feedback and support from different people and will most likely continue to grow. Los Chiptooth is a group of BMX riders from LA, and formed by; students, workers and parents, presently organizing free BMX riding events in the Central LA County area and promoting bicycle riding elsewhere--through the release of free online videos. We would like to invite any bicycle rider to come and roll with us! Also, bookmark our page and keep checking us out, as more news and updates on our jam-series become available.

Your Jam Photos for a Magazine Article

I received an email from a legit magazine. They are asking me to submit a report and any good photos from the jams. I would like you to send me your favorite pictures from either, or both, Koreatown and/or Westlake jam. The deadline is Friday, the 30th @ noon. Egg Hunt Street Jam

The feedback on last week's jam has been tight! I have been getting in touch with more people interested in making the next one bigger and better. They have talked about exposure and sponsorships. Aside from their ideas, we have been working on a few of our own. I have already selected the next town, date and, now, a theme to go along with the event.

Echo park is another location that has caught my attention since the first time riding there. Certain boulevard's spots have actually been featured in one very popular BMX magazine (think the Josh Heino interview, a few years back). Anyway, the date is set for Easter Sunday and what better time to incorporate the cute bunny to keep you entertained (n/h).

For our third time around, we will have a basket-full of special eggs for the shredders. For every outstanding moment you will be asked to pick an egg from the basket. Each egg will "contain" a prize. Save what you find inside. In the end, you may claim it for a specified prize. If you handle your game with the most huevos, you will have the chance to trade-in the eggs for the ultimate prize. That is, if you have the most eggs at the end of the night, you will go home carrying the biggest smile, like you just got layed.

On the other hand, you don't wanna go home empty-handed. Take a few seconds to tell your bikeshop about us, because maybe they have extra wheels, bars and/or pedals they wanna give you through our jam-series.

Third is the Charm

This past Sunday, a second Street jam at Westlake-LA went down and new ideas for a third are being entertained. Last year in October, the first official Street jam by LA riders became a reality thanks to the support of locals and BMX sites.

A week after the first jam, locals started asking about a next one. Three months later, everything was in place and we dropped the Westlake jam. The feedback from both has been mostly positive but slightly different. According to certain shredders, the vibe at Koreatown was very chill. We moved from one riding spot to the next without the worry of following a time-frame. By sunset, many riders had left but the session continued 'til 1am, and we called it a day at around 2:30am. with empty 24oz. cans in our hand (G'ea!).

On the other hand, this past Sunday (Jan. 18th) we ended a bit after sunset. However, unlike the first, a couple of filmers showed to shoot for two separate web edits. Larry Alvarado from Vimby and Richard from Veesh documented the entire event. This second time around was also the first time getting support from a company (Dfyant Clothing). Like Larry and Richard, Mark Vargas committed himself to his work by bringing a backpack-full of BMX parts and swagger and generously awarded prizes to some deserving and outstanding riders.

Unfortunately, some the best shredders went home empty-handed. Next time around, we want you to stick around 'til the end and for that, the program will face some improvements. Changes in the format and an overall upgrade of the event will grant participating riders more time and a greater incentive to handle their game at a full-potential.
